Which distance to run

2016 running synopsis

2016 was a roller coaster year for me. It seems started well when I took part in the dragon back run and finished with decent timing of 2:14 for 23km. thereafter it gave me boost to train more so that I could prepare for my 1st ever overseas run and world major, Tokyo Marathon.

Things happened as I fell from bike just 1.5 month from the event, where I needed time to rest and didn't had much mileage. yet, I went to Tokyo to gain as much exposure as athlete cum backpacker. It was great experience running in winter.Meeting new friends and getting to know the culture of new people was definitely fascinating.

Thereafter, I took part in mini races i.e CLAP run and Square Root run in Universiti Malaya, which basically to bring the confidence back. In midst of personal life, wok and Toastmasters, I registered for virtual runs, so that it can boost me to keep running/exercising like, Bola naga run 1, Bola Naga run 2, Kabali run, Run for nasi lemak, singam run and MM trio run. Nevertheless, decided virtual runs would not be continued as I need to have face to face competitions.

Apart from it, I went through 3 consecutive week s of run, which I could say the peak ie AIA run, KL marathon and finally my 10th marathon (Kuching Marathon). Thereafter I called it a day for the year on competitive racing.

Overall, I took part in 8 runs (1 of my lowest in last 10 years). It's time to come back in 2017. Above are my pictures I took in gym and races.

Benefit of Running

Poor Indian Marathoner

Usual marathons events will have water stations at every 2.5 to 3km. This is done by the organisers. of course, runner are allowed to place their personal.

Nevertheless, for Olympic games and World Championship, the runners has to place their own drinks based on the IAAF guidelines, although organiser will still still place at 1 or 2 locations.

For above case, looks like the Indian Athletics team sabotaged the athlete, Jaisha by not supplying drinks/fluids. I feel sorry for the athlete. At this level, we still have 3rd class mentality officers, whim merely came there for holidays under governments moneys, and spoil the athletes future.

First race for the year. Took part in 12km as the 21km slot was full.

I'm taking part in the race after lapse of 3 years.

I was suppose to reach the location around 5.55 or 6am, but only manage to reach there at 6.20, as I missed the turning. reached the place and did so e light stretching.

Luckily I manage to be in the 2nd row at the starting lane.

The race started on time, and I made a steady start. The groups got stretched, as the km2 had steep hill. Thereafter, the route was mostly flat, with 3 or 4 light slopes.

Manage to get 14th place with timing of 59.15. Happy with the timing as I manage to do below 5 minutes pace.

Many good runners. Thus, it was a fast paced race with minor slopes.

I didn't allow anyone t overtake me after km 2. The pack in-front of me gone missing after the 21km joined us.

The water stations were adequate, I could see of them at least. The signboards were adequate although there were no distance markers. This is the 1st time I had roticanai (crispy ones) after the race.
